Commonly called hopbush, this flowering tree from the soapberry family is regionally called lutchmi in marathi and mohra in Oriya. Various parts of the tree are used extensively to treat malaria, rheumatism, burns, sprains, disgestive disorders etc. The wood is used for making tool handles, frames, and charcoal. It is also grown for soil reclamation.
